At the centre of this fabulous Andalucian town is 'Casco Antigo' (The Old Town), the historic heart of this pulsating and vibrant resort. Marbella's history is fascinating and can be discovered within easy walking distance of most accommodation. A guided walking tour is highly recommended. Here you will find tight cobbled streets lined with small fine shops displaying many items of jewelry, clothing, art and decoration. By day and night there are many atmospheric street cafes and restaurants especially in the famous 'Orange Square' and all surrounded by historic and religious buildings dating from around 700AD with the tower of the Church of Encarnacion always in sight. A number of renovation projects have delivered interesting museums and art galleries. To the other side of the main road which splits the town in two and where main stream shopping is found you will discover a botanic park leading down to the sea front, from hear you can take a horse and carriage ride. Finally in the area between the paseo and the town centre you will find an array of authentic Spanish tapas bars and bodegas. Only a mile or so from neighboring international and designer Puerto Banus yet it could be a million miles. Puerto Banus and Marbella has something for everyone, its so diverse!
